I am used to flying in SoCal where it is dry, except for some mornings. Now that I live in the South there is this thing called humidity 24 hours a day. Yesterday was a warm but really nice afternoon and I thought it would be a great time to test fly my Comet Avenger. I was shocked, the first test glide was almost perfect, just needed 1.5 grams of nose weight for a perfect flight. After a couple of test glides she is heavier and the paper is a little wet and wrinkled/loose. I figured oh well, I am out here so lets wind up the rubber. The first test flight was really nice but she needed a little downthrust. Remember, I built her out of the box no mods except I did add balsa wood washers I made from extra kit wood behind the small wood nose button so I could add down thrust. After some down thrust, I took a video after 300 winds and let her go. I am impressed with this WWII model flying almost out of the box with minor trim adjustments. Yes it is a bummer about the canopies, no color decals and white tissue but these Comet kits do fly. I used one loop of 1/8 rubber and will for the weather to dry out before the next flight. https://youtu.be/sWKghp_ICYU
